Talking about iPhones, we have two methods to use the AT&T email. You can either open AT&T email on iPhone using a web browser or configure AT&T email using IMAP/ POP.

How can I SET UP an AT&T Email Account on an iPhone?

Broadly, we can classify the AT&T configuration on an iPhone into the following two types.

Set up AT&T Email on an iPhone Automatically

In the automatic process, we don’t have to enter the IMAP/ POP settings manually. All we have to do is enter our login credentials. The exact step-by-step process is explained below.

  • First of all, you will have to click on the “Mail” app icon that will display on your home screen.
  • Next, you need to choose the desired email provider.
  • In the next step, you will have to enter your email address and then choose “Next”.
  • Provide the password of your email account.
  • After that, you will have to choose the desired account sync option and then choose “Save”.
  • Here, you can choose the option to synchronize mail, contacts, calendars, and notes.
  • Then, click on the “Save” button.

Your email is now set up in the Mail app. If this is the only account you’ve set up on your iPhone, you will be directed to your inbox. In case you are looking to set up additional accounts then you may return to the “Mail” Screen.

Manual Configuration to add AT&T email account on iPhone

Those who are looking to add their AT&T email account on an iPhone manually may follow the steps listed below.

“Note: Before we discuss the AT&T email configuration settings for iPhone, you should note these settings are also applicable in case you are looking to set up Yahoo/ SBCGlobal/ Bellsouth email on an iPhone. It is so because all these email services are now migrated to “@Att.net” domain”
  1. First of all, you will have to tap on the “Settings” icon appearing on the home screen of your iPhone. This will open your iPhone’s settings.
  2. After opening the settings, you need to choose the “Mail, Contacts, and Calendars” option.

“Note: In a few versions of iPhone, you will have to choose the ‘Passwords & Accounts’ option instead of Mail, Contacts, and Calendars”.

 Next, you will have to choose the “Add Account” option from the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars settings menu.

 

  1. On the next page, a list of email providers will appear on your screen.
  2. Now, from all the available options, you need to choose “AT&T” as your email service provider name. In case the AT&T email option isn’t available in the list then you may select the “Other” option.
**Point to Remember – As mentioned above in this post, AT&T email is not powered by Yahoo. So, you can choose the “Yahoo” option if you are looking to configure AT&T email on an iPhone. 
  1. After that, you will get redirected to the subsequent screen. Here, you need to tap on the “Add Mail Account” option.
  2. Now, you will have to provide the associated ‘User-Data’ of your AT&T email account as shown below in order to add an ATT email account to your iPhone.
  • Name – _____________ (Enter your full name)
  • Email – _____________ (Enter your complete AT&T Account)
  • Password – __________ (Enter the password associated with your AT&T email account)
  • Description – ________ (Here, you need to enter a short description of your AT&T email account. Else, you may simply your AT&T Email ID)
  1. Tap on the “Next” button once you are done entering all the information mentioned above.
  2. In continuation of the process, you will have to choose either “IMAP” or “POP” after filling the “att.net email settings for iPhone”. Remember, here you can with IMAP or POP as per your choice but IMAP is often considered more advanced as well as efficient. That’s why, we request you to make your decisions wisely.

  1. If you’ve selected ‘IMAP’ as your account type.
    • Enter the following under the “Incoming Mail Server Settings” section.
      • Hostname – imap.mail.att.net
      • Username – Your AT&T email username
      • Password – Your AT&T email password
    • Provide the following information under the “Outgoing Mail Server Settings” section.
      • Hostname – smtp.mail.att.net
      • Username – Your ATT Email username
      • Password – Your AT&T email account password.
  2. In case you’ve selected ‘POP’ as your account type.
    • Enter the following information under the “Incoming Mail Server Settings” section.
      • Hostname – inbound.att.net
      • Username – Your AT&T email username
      • Password – Your AT&T email account password.
    • Furnish the following details under the “Outgoing Mail Server Settings” section.
      • Hostname – outbound.att.net
      • Username – Your AT&T email username
      • Password – Your AT&T email account password.

  1. Once you are done entering both Incoming and Outgoing Server Information, you should tap on the “Save” option to connect your AT&T.net email account with your iPhone.
  2. At the same time, you need to ensure the option against “Mail” is checked.
“Note: You should ensure that the toggle switch appearing next to the mail is turned on or green. It is so because until and unless this switch is not on, AT&T email won’t sync to your iPhone.”
  1. Next, exit the settings of your iPhone and open it once again. Now, choose “Mail” followed by “Accounts”.
  2. Choose the “AT&T email account” that you have recently added.
  3. After that, you will have to choose the “Advanced” option and make sure that the “Incoming Server” section has the following information.
    • Use SSL – Yes
    • Authentication – Enter your AT&T email account password
    • Server Port – 995 for POP or 993 for IMAP
  1. In a similar manner, you need to ensure that the “Outgoing Server” section has the following information.
    • Use SSL – Yes
    • Authentication – Enter your AT&T email account password
    • Server Port – Use 465 for both POP or IMAP.
  2. Tap on the “Done” button to wrap up the process. Finally, press the “Home” button to exit the settings app and return to the home screen of your iPhone.

On reaching the home screen of your iPhone, you may swipe right or left and tap on the ‘Mail’ icon. This will launch your iPhone’s email application with AT&T email added to the same.

That’s it. You are now all set to use your AT&T email account on your iPhone.

AT&T email not working on iPhone

 AT&T email not working is one of the most common problems faced by iPhone users while sending and receiving emails. Thankfully, we can get rid of the same by following some basic troubleshooting steps.

  • First and foremost, you need to make sure that your iPhone is connected to the internet. To check the internet connectivity you may run any random website on your phone. If a website runs well then it indicates that there is nothing wrong with your Internet connection.
  • Make sure you are trying to run an AT&T email using a compatible browser. The good thing is that AT&T email works well with most of the web browsers including Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.
  • Check and confirm that you are using an updated version of the browser. In case you are using an obsolete version then you should update the same immediately.

AT&T Email password not working

It is necessary to enter the correct AT&T password in order to use IMAP or POP settings to set up an AT&T email on an iPhone. However, things can be very tricky in case you can’t remember the password of your AT&T email account. Luckily, you can reset AT&T password with ease. Check the steps below.

  • To begin AT&T email password recovery, you need to visit the AT&T login window.
  • From the bottom of the window, you should click on the “Forgot Password?” button.
  • Now, enter your last name as well as your AT&T username. Here, you should also enter the captcha code appearing at the bottom of the screen.
  • After that, you will have to choose the method by which you want to receive the temporary password. You may receive the temporary password either on your phone or an alternate email address.
  • If you don’t have a phone number or alternate email address then you may answer the security questions.
  • The option to create a new password will display on your screen once you are done entering the temporary password or answering the security questions.
  • Finally, create a strong password for your AT&T email account.
